The Vigil

Krauss is a 14 year old Rat Terrier with Cushing’s Disease.

His owners are convinced that Krauss’ days are numbered. Ever since his diagnosis, they have sadly anticipated his imminent death.

They have kept vigil as Krauss “dies” for going on 3 years.

His family makes all manners of excuses for his behavior:

“He’s old and grumpy.”

“He’s in pain.”

“He’s already set in his ways.”

“He doesn’t like strangers.”

“We’ll just put him in another room when we have kids over.”

I know. I know. You believe the old adage “You can’t teach an old dog yadda yadda…”

Absolutely NOT true.

It is not too late to train Krauss to make better decisions when he is feeling threatened.  Training can enhance the quality of his life and that of his owners, relatives and friends.

Krauss has the potential – just like any other dog – to learn a different way to be around people.

Regardless of illness, advanced age, or unknown background, ALL dogs deserve the opportunity to the best family companions they can be.

Just as Krauss’ owners asked their veterinarian to help with their dog’s physical illness, they need the assistance of a professional dog trainer to help with his behavioral issues.
