Do dogs enjoy the warmer weather?
We humans open the screen door and inhale the fresh air and new mowed grass smell.
All seems right with the world as we gaze contentedly at the blooming tree
s and flowers.
Our dogs blaze out the door, woof a greeting into the breeze, and roll happily on the lawn, legs kicking.
Belly up, they sigh and lay upside down, pink lips flayed.
Reluctant to come when called – is the spring air beckoning them more compelling than I?

Dogs smell, hear, and taste things so much more intensely than we do.
Even the wizened old ones can’t resist trying to catch a fat bumblebee, and will lie for hours surveying their turf.
Yeah, they dig. They bark. They chew the deck chairs.
But oh, how we love our heat-seeking missiles, our back-to-nature dawgs.
